Old shed spanning our Creek is now the Cabin

In the heart of the Smoky Mountains surrounded by the Cherokee National Forest lies Standing Bear Farm, a turn of the century multi-generational farmstead including the original homestead, barns, outbuildings and farmhouse. The outbuildings have now been converted to a bunkhouse and cabin where we offer rustic lodging to hikers and others interested in stepping back from today's hectic lifestyle to a time in America's past when life in rural backcountry Appalachia was considered the "good life".

We offer lodging in our rustic bunkhouse or cabin, tent camping, hot showers, laundry, internet, mail-drops*, shuttle services, kitchen, fire pits and grills.
*A charge of $3.00/box for guests that are not staying with us.

We also have long term resupply for Hot Springs (35 miles) or Fontana (75 miles), and an assortment of fleece clothing for those cool  mountain nights.

We shuttle to these popular places: Fontana, Newfound Gap, Max Patch, Hot Springs and Erwin.
You may leave your car safely here for a small parking fee of $5.00 per day per car. Parking longer then 7 days we charge $3 per day per car.
Please call ahead for shuttles and parking availability.
If you need to make arrangements for a shuttle or just need advice in planning your section hike please call us.

We also kennel dogs.
For "thru-hikers" we care for you dog while hiking the GSMNP. We pickup or drop off your dog at Fontana Dam. The "thru-hiker" rate is $240.00 for a seven (7) day period.
Section or day hikers may leave their dog with us as well. Our daily rate is $20 per dog.

We are located 3 Appalachian Trail miles North of the GMSNP and 200 yards off the AT.
